Labor Day Weekend Charity Ride

  1. On September 4th The 222 Recreational Foundation will hold their 1st Annual Charity Ride. This ride was influenced by an article in the Houghton Lake Resorter titled “We Care is in need Financial situation threatens longtime St. Helen organization.” The We Care Shop assists with the needs of those struggling with financial needs that need a lift up. The organization is operated by veteran and long time community leader John Sutter.

The ride will cost $25 per person and includes a t-shirt to the first 100 registered. Scott Marshall, local business owner of Scotteez Apparel and organization secretary is donating 100 shirts. Proceeds will be divided 80% to the We Care Shop and 20% to the 222 Recreational Foundation to continue funding their scholarship and event funds.

Matt Henning, president of the 222 Recreational Foundation and leader of the Braaap Gods will lead the ride. The ride is being mapped out by community business owner and Foundation member Joe Spurgeon of S&S Powersports. The group hopes to extend the ride approximately 70-80 miles and make for a good days experience on our wonderful trails. This will be a geocache style event with the option of taking coordinates and going on your own or going with the group. The guided group will leave at 10am from Richfield Township Park. All riders will meet back at the park by 6:00pm to qualify for the drawing.

ALL OFF-ROAD vehicles welcome from bikes and quads to jeeps, trucks, buggys and side by side! SEND IT!

Following the ride the group will return to Richfield Township Park for a light dinner, socializing and music. Those wishing may bring their own beverages.

Additionally we want to thank The St. Helen Snowpackers for donating 100 hot dogs for this event.

Pre-register by August 29 to be sure we have your shirt size!
